The Panasonic Toughpad series is quite known for their rugged build quality and whopping price. Usually made for extreme natural conditions, Toughpad series already has a number of notebook computers and tablet devices.
Recently, Panasonic has added a new member to this family, Toughpad FZ-B2, a 7-inch Android based tablet described as the perfect companion for mobile workers with a long battery life, daylight clear display and with flexible configuration options.
Based on Intel 1.83GHz quad-core Celeron N2930 Bay Trail processor with 2GB memory and 32GB eMMC flash storage, the Toughpad FZ-B2 will be available from December.
Unlike Toughpad FZ-M1, the Toughpad FZ-B2 runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat OS instead of Windows 8.1 Pro.
The Toughpad FZ-B2 features a 7-inch screen sunlight-viewable WXGA Active Matrix display with a resolution of 1280x800 pixels, and a capacitive touchscreen digitiser with five-finger multi-touch capabilities.
Capable to handle extreme conditions, the Toughpad FZ-B2 is shock resistant and also comes with IP65 certification rating for water proof and dust resistance capability.
Panasonic also claims that this device has passed a drop test of up to 150 cms.
On the connectivity side, the Toughpad is equipped with an Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 7260 WiFi adapter as standard, with an optional Qualcomm Gobi 5000 3G mobile broadband module.
The tablet also features a full size USB 3.0 port along with a microSD slot for storage extension. Capable to read 2D barcodes and smartcards, the Toughpad FZ-B2 also comes with a hot swappable battery.
Running on Android Kitkat 4.4, this tablet integrates a 5MP camera and 32 GB of in-built storage space. The device is also available with a 8MP variant either.
Its 3,320 mAh battery has a quoted life of up to 7 hours, but this can be extended to 14 hours with an extra battery, available for purchace.
An array of accessories is also available, including a Lite-cradle, vehicle dock, multi-battery charger, shoulder, hand and rotate straps, carry cases and a passive pen stylus.
The Toughpad FZ-B2 will be up for sale in Europe from December 2014 onwards with a price tag of 591GBP (₹58,000 approximately) onwards.
