Akshay Kumar's Padman trailer is out finally!
It begins with Amitabh Bachchan's voice-over narrating the story. Written and directed by R Balki and produced by Twinkle Khanna, the film is based on Arunachalam Muruganantham, who went on a mission to provide clean and hygienic sanitary napkins to the women of his village in less price.
Akshay Kumar is playing the protagonist and takes a funny yet valid take on this social taboo of periods.

Radhika Apte, who plays Akshay Kumar's wife, has a significant role and shares a beautiful chemistry with him. It is definitely a fresh pair to look forward to.
Sonam Kapoor helps Akshay's character to make sanitary napkins.
Talking about the background score, it has blended well with the overall vibe of the film. Yes, it has funny moments but doesn't leave the seriousness and sincerity.
Shot in India -- mainly Maheshwar (near Indore) and the US (the United Nations headquarters in New York), Padman showcases some beautiful locations.
Overall, addressing issues like menstruation, sanitary napkins, female health, and hygiene – this film will definitely win people's hearts. The film is all set to release on January 26, 2018.
For those who don't know, producer and Akshay's wife Twinkle had written about Padman aka Arunachalam Muruganantham in a short story titled The Sanitary Man from A Scared Land in her second novel The Legend of Lakshmi Prasad. Arunachalam, a Padma Shri awardee played a pivotal role in creating awareness about menstrual hygiene in rural India and took upon himself the task of manufacturing cost-effective sanitary pads.
Akshay Kumar's last release Toilet: Ek Prem Katha had dealt with the problem of open defecation in India.
