Padi Padi Leche Manasu (PPLM) has done an average business at the worldwide box office in its first weekend. With this, actor Sharwanand has tasted his first flop of his career.
Padi Padi Leche Manasu is a regular family entertainer and there is nothing great to boast about it in terms of its subject. The success graph of Sharwanand had generated curiosity about the movie. The trade analysts were keeping their fingers crossed on its prospects, as it clashed with Antariksham, KGF: Chapter 1 and Zero, which did not allow it to have good number of screens.
The Sharwanand and Sai Pallavi starrer opened to an average response at the ticket counters on Friday. Padi Padi Leche Manasu collected Rs 5.10 crore gross at the worldwide box office on the first day. But the numbers were bigger than that of Antariksham and other new releases in the Telugu states.
The Hanu Raghavapudi directorial received mixed response from the viewers and most of them were upset with its scripting and narration. The word of mouth took a toll on its collection on the following day to some extent. Padi Padi Leche Manasu collected around Rs 11.50 crore gross at the worldwide box office in the first weekend. Its business is little bigger than Antariksham (Rs 9.50 crore gross).
However, Padi Padi Leche Manasu has been produced by Prasad Chukkapalli and Sudhakar Cherukuri under the banner Sri Lakshmi Venkateswara Cinemas. They have spent around Rs 10 crore on its production and promotion. Its theatrical rights were sold for Rs 19 crore and the movie has earned Rs 4.75 crore for its distributors. Considering its current pace, the film is likely to incur losses to them.
Sharwanand has churned out back-to-back hit family entertainers like Express Raja and Shatamanam Bhavati and Padi Padi Leche Manasu, which falls under the same genre was expected to continue his success streak at the box office. But the movie has turned out to be his first flop at the ticket counters.
