In the latest development regarding Pacific Rim 2, Aftermath star Levi Meaden has been cast in a prominent role in the movie.
Meaden has portrayed several other characters in movies like iZombie, Olympus, The Killing, and The 100. In Pacific Rim 2, he will be playing a character named Ilya and has been described as an irreverent and offbeat cadet.
The news came through Meaden's twitter post where he has written: "Nice to finally be able to announce this (his role in Pacific Rim 2. Also, come one, there has to be a better photo of me, right?")

Directed by Steven S DeKnight of Spartacus and Marvel's Daredevil fame and written by Emily Carmichael and Kira Snyder, Pacific Rim 2 is scheduled to get into production in November, with initially filming to be done in Australia and China.
Besides Meaden, other actors who have joined the cast are John Boyega (of Star Wars: The Force Awakens fame), who will be playing the son of Stacker Pentecost (portrayed by Idris Elba) from the previous film, Scott Eastwood of Sucide Squad and Counting to 1000 fame, and Jing Tian of New Police Story fame.
Charlie Hunnam (Sons of Anarchy, Green Street Hooligans) who played the protagonist in the original movie, won't reprise his role of Raleigh Becket due to several scheduling conflicts.
Pacific Rim 2 is scheduled to hit the big screens across the globe on February 23, 2018.
