Anoop Menon and Murali Gopy's latest Malayalam movie "Pa..Va" was released in Kerala on July 22. However, the theatre occupancy of the Sooraj Tom-directed film was average as it locked horns with the most anticipated Rajinikanth-starrer "Kabali," released on Friday.
The film narrates the life of 80-year-old friends Pappan (Murali) and Varkey (Anoop). Critics have praised Murali for his lively performance in the family entertainer. The film has an ensemble cast, including Ashokan, Ramu, Edavela Babu, Indrans, P Balachandran, Shammi Thilakan, KPAC Lalitha, Kaviyoor Ponnama, Ranjini, Ponnama Babu, KottayamPradeep, Sunil Sukhada, Vanitha Krishnachandran, Renji Panicker, Muthumanim Bhagyalakshmi, who have also performed realistically.
Here is what critics and audience have to say about "Pa..Va":
Times of India
Some good-natured mischief and sunny, youthful optimism of senior citizens are the fun parts of Pa.Va. It does have the charisma of an unusual yet simple story, and the relatability of a delightful village drama. Where Pa.Va tests patience is at certain portions of patchy narrations and stretched second half, which is absolutely predictable. The film had a good scope for some healthy humour too, but it does not evoke any hearty laughter. Pa.Va can keep those who enjoy simple family dramas with a Christian flavour, engaged, if they walk in to watch the movie without any expectations.

In Pa.Va, the events are essayed with poetic beauty, without getting eerie. Kudos to Murali Gopy for his meticulous and enchanting portrayal of Pappan. The whole movie swivels around the exuberant performance of Gopy. You may never blink your eyes, not even once, to imagine him as someone else. The narrative is thoroughly gripping and nowhere is the philosophy overstated. The dialogues are realistic and simple. The camera maneuvered by Satheesh Kurup makes the view a marvelous experience.
