Latest Tamil releases "Purampokku Engira Podhuvudamai" ("Purampokku") and "36 Vayadhinile" had a good opening at overseas box office. Both films, which stand out in terms of making, genre and star cast, have impressed viewers in their own ways.
Kamal Haasan's "Uttama Villian" in its third weekend and Raghav Lawrence's "Kanchana 2" in its fifth continued their good run.
According to Bollywood Hungama, "Purampokku" is leading among Tamil films in the United Kingdom (UK) and Ireland. The movie has made £10, 151 (₹10.14 lakh) in its first weekend (15- 17 May) from 12 screens.
Kamal Haasan's "Uttama Villain", which was in its third weekend in the UK, collected £ 1,296, taking the total collection to £104, 177 (₹1.04 crore).
In Australia, "36 Vayadhinile" has made its presence felt by collecting A$ 36,603 (₹18.63 lakh) from eight screens, while "Uttama Villain" made A$ 1,190 from two screens, taking its total collection to A$ 188, 580 (₹96 lakh).

In Malaysia, which is probably the biggest market for Tamil cinema after Tamil Nadu, it is Jyothika's "36 Vayadhinile" all the way among Tamil film releases, beating "Purambokku" by a significant margin.
The weekend gross collection of "36 Vayadhinile" is estimated at MYR 154,737 (₹27.59 lakh) from 20 screens. "Puramapokku" is ranked second, with collection of MYR 59, 834 (₹10.67 lakh).
"Uttama Villain" and "Kanchan 2" are also continuing their success run in Malaysia. During the weekend, the Kamal Haasan movie earned MYR 5,459, taking the total collection to MYR 763, 245 ( ₹1.36 crore).
"Kanchana 2" in its fifth weekend has earned MYR 4,795 from two screens and the film tops at the Malaysia box office, with total collection of MYR 1,535,466 (₹2.73 crore).
Industry analysts are now eager to see how these movies do in the coming days. They are also waiting to see whether Kamal Haasan's "Uttama Villain" and Raghava Lawrence's "Kanchana 2" maintain their success run in the overseas market.
