The overseas box office witnessed a good trend in December and January with "Dilwale", "Bajirao Mastani" and "Airlift". Ranveer Singh's "Bajirao Mastani" box office run has almost stopped, but Shah Rukh Khan's "Dilwale" is still creating records overseas. On the other hand, Akshay Kumar's "Airlift" is inching towards the Rs 50 crore mark at the overseas box office.
Dilwale
Khan's "Dilwale" is the highest grossing Bollywood film at the Malaysian box office. The romantic action drama, directed by Rohit Shetty, is running in its eighth week in Malaysia and in its 52-day run minted Rs 10.27 crore.
"#Dilwale is UNSTOPPABLE in Malaysia. Total till 7 Feb [Sunday; Weekend 8]: RM 6,292,010 [₹ 10.27 cr]. FANTASTIC! @Rentrak," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
"Dilwale" is the fourth highest grosser overseas of all time and second highest of 2015. The film has earned $25.6 million from its 50-day overseas run.
Airlift
After taking the lead at the domestic box office, Kumar's "Airlift" is now performing well at the overseas box office. In 17 days, the film has earned $6.06 million (Rs 41.25 crore) from the overseas box office.
"#Airlift Overseas total *till Weekend 3 - 7 Feb*: $ 6.06 million [$ 6,066,955 = ₹ 41.25 cr]," box office analyst Adarsh tweeted.
The film is going strong internationally and should cross the Rs 50 crore mark soon. Starring Kumar and Nimrat Kaur in the lead roles, the film earned Rs 14.5 crore from the UAE-GCC box office, Rs 2.48 crore from Australia, Rs 3.92 crore from the UK-Ireland, Rs 1.75 crore from Pakistan and Rs 7.18 crore from rest of the world (ROW), according to Bollywood Hungama.
Ghayal Once Again (Ghayal Returns)
Sunny Deol's "Ghayal Once Again" has got a good start internationally, given the genre (revenge drama) it belongs to. The overseas box office collection of $ 734,157 (Rs 5 crore) is good for the Deol-starrer, as the actor is not so popular overseas compared to several other big B-town stars.
"#GhayalOnceAgain Overseas total: $ 734,157 [₹ 5 cr]. GOOD!" Adarsh added.
"Ghayal Once Again" will have a decent run in its first week at the overseas box office, but it remains to be seen how much the film will rake in 7 days.
