"Airlift" is among a few Akshay Kumar movies that have done exceptionally well at the overseas box office. The film has earned more than Rs 43 crore from the international market in its theatrical run.
Raja Menon's directorial film "Airlift" had a good 24-day theatrical run in the international market. The film, based on a real-life incident, earned $6.38 million (Rs 43.52 crore) from the overseas box office until Feb. 14.
"#Airlift Overseas total *till Weekend 4 - 14 Feb*: $ 6.38 million [$ 6,387,923 = ₹ 43.52 cr]," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
"Airlift" best performed at the UAE-GCC box office and made a collection of around Rs 14.5 crore (till Feb. 7). The second-best collection was made at the US-Canada box office. "Airlift" earned Rs 13.06 crore in 24 days from the US-Canada box office. From the UK-Ireland region, Akshay's film minted Rs 4.24 crore, from Australia it minted Rs 2.58 crore, from New Zealand Rs 94 lakh, from Malaysia Rs 11 lakh, from Pakistan Rs 1.75 crore and from rest of the world Rs 7.18 crore, Bollywood Hungama reports.
Akshay's film had a good box office run worldwide and now, the theatrical run has almost come to an end. It is the first superhit film of 2016 and also the first to cross the Rs 100 crore mark this year.
On the other hand, Sunny Deol's revenge drama "Ghayal Once Again" underperformed at the overseas box office. The first weekend box office collection of "Ghayal Once Again" was good, but the film failed to show much growth after that. After earning approximately Rs 5 crore in its opening weekend, Sunny's film added just Rs 2 crore more till second weekend. The box office collection of the film after second weekend stands at $1.07 million (Rs 7.03 crore).
