More than 180 girls and women were kidnapped in India every day last year. The shocking data was revealed recently by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).
The report also stated that about 100 of women were kidnapped daily for marriages, while 5 women were abducted for illicit intercourse daily.
In 2014, the number of victims of kidnapping or abduction, both male and female was 77,250. The number increased to 83,005 in 2015. In 2016, the total number of victims rose further to 88,008.
