Season 2 of Starz's "Outlander" will come to an end next week with the episode "Dragonfly in Amber" where viewers will see the Frasers taking part in the Battle of Culloden. It is expected to be a highly emotional episode as it will see Claire returning to the future, taking her away from Jamie and without the knowledge of whether he survives the Battle of Culloden or not.
According to the official synopsis of the episode, the finale will see Claire returning to Lallybroch with a grown up Brianna in the hopes that Roger will help her discover what happened to the men of Lallybroch after the Battle of Culloden, and whether Jamie survived the battle or not. While searching for the grave of Jonathan Randall, Frank's ancestor, they come across Jamie Fraser's gravestone, and Claire will also be forced to tell Brianna the truth about her parentage, and the events that happened during her time-travel.
This story will be intercut with scenes from the past, in particular the days leading up to the Battle of Culloden. The episode will also feature Dougal's death during a confrontation with Jamie after he hears Claire suggesting that they poison Charles Stuart to prevent the slaughter at Culloden.
If the finale follows its source material, Diana Gabaldon's "A Dragonfly in Amber," the then finale will feature an intimate moment between Claire and Jamie before he forces her to go back to the future to Frank. It will also see Claire realizing that she's pregnant with Jamie's child, and Jamie's last words to her before pushing her towards the stones will be name their child -- Brian.
"Outlander" airs Saturdays on Starz. This Saturday will feature a marathon of all the previous episode of Season 2 and the finale will be aired only on July 9.
