"Outlander" has been on a long break since the wrapping up of the first part of its primary season. Cast memebers Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe recently spoke about the interlude between Season 1's eighth episode, which aired on 27 September, and the ninth episode, which will air on 4 April.
Warning: Spoilers Ahead
Heughan, who plays the role of Jamie Fraser on the show, said that there is a lot in store for the fans and they will be pleasantly surprised with the final eight episodes of Season 1. The actor also dropped some hints about the storyline and suggested that his character's relationship with Claire Randall is going to take a new turn.
"They (upcoming episodes) are action-packed, dark, and very intense as Claire [Caitriona Balfe] and Jamie [Heughan] move into the next level of their relationship. She and her modern ways tear his guts out, as he puts it. The honeymoon is very short," said Heughan reported Yahoo TV.
The first trailer of the second half has already been released. It gives a sneak peek into the intriguing romance of Fraser and Randall and the dangers that lie ahead of them. Fans can also expect a lot of steamy scenes between Fraser and Randall. One of the upcoming scenes which people are most interested in is the one where Fraser spanks Randall for not obeying his orders. It was reportedly one of the toughest scenes to shoot and was "handled with care".
"We wanted to approach it very respectfully. We talked a lot about it, we met a few times, we choreographed it quite well. When it came to the day, we tried to give it the respect it deserved," said Balfe to The Wrap.
Apparently, the scene was shot keeping the traditions of 17th century in mind.
"It's very hard as a modern person to see this is OK under any circumstances. But in 1743, this was a very justified form of punishment that a husband would [dole] out," further said the actress.
"Outlander" is scheduled to be aired on Starz.
