Remember the time Amy Poehler and Tina Fey hosted the Golden Globes in January 2015? If you don't, pull yourself out of your cave and relive those moments. Because the two comedians might just rule the stage again. This time, it will be the Oscars.
The producers of the Academy Awards 2016 show have confirmed that hosting duties will be handled by two people. Producers David Hill and Reginald Hudlin are looking for a particular kind of pair who would lend fun and entertainment to Oscars 2016.
Hudlin joked that it's always better to have multiple hosts, in case one suffers from a "cardiac arrest" and drops dead. He said in an interview, "We have absolutely talked about duos. We've talked about a lot of different configurations," reported Entertainment Weekly.
The producers are tight lipped about who will host the Oscars in 2016, but we predict it just might be "30 Rock" actor Tina Fey and the "Parks and Recreation" star Amy Poehler. Their three year Golden Globes contract just ended and everyone's a fan of seeing their 20-year-old friendship shine on stage, again.
The comedians said that they don't plan on re-signing another contract with the Hollywood Foreign Press, revealed TV Guide.
Hudlin and Hill are admittedly fans of the "two is better than one" theory, but avid award show watchers feel that the script and jokes need to be tighter. Oscar 2015 host Neil Patrick Harris received a somewhat tepid response to his jokes and hosting skills. In 2010, Oscar hosts James Franco and Anne Hathaway were lambasted for their poor performance.
While there are several months left for the Oscars, there are several comedians who might fit the job and do it justice. Netizens have responded with their list of Oscars 2016 hosts: Amy Schumer and her new bestie Jennifer Lawrence; Anna Faris and Chris Pratt; Kermit and Miss Peggy; Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj; Donald Trump and Rosie O'Donnell; Key and Peele and the most bizarre duo- Amy Poehler and Joe Biden.
The Oscars will be held on Sunday, 28 February 2016.
