"Orange Is the New Black" cast members won a number of trophies at the Screen Actors Guild Award ceremony.
Uzo Abuda, known for playing Suzzane "Crazy Eyes", clinched the award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series. The 33-year-old actress was dressed in a yellow mesh gown as she kept her look simple with minimal make-up and neatly tied hair.
Uzo was up against Julie Bowen (Modern Family), Edie Falco (Nurse Jackie), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Veep) and Amy Poehler (Parks & Recreation). This is the second time that Abuda has been recognised for playing unstable lesbian female inmate of Litchfield prison. Last year, she walked away with the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series.
When "OITNB" returns with its third season later this year, Abuda's character will be shown overcoming an emotional setback, which she suffered in Season 2 after feeling betrayed by Vee.
Meanwhile, "OITNB" also won an Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series, beating the likes of "The Big Bang Theory", "Modern Family", "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" and "Veep".
Laverne Cox, known for her role as "Sophia Berset" on the show, also walked the red carpet at the awards event. She wore a muted heavy satin gown, which featured an elegant sweeping train. The gown featured a metallic detailing around the shoulders and along the waist. The actress wore her hair loose and accessorised her look with a pair of white gold jewellery and a clutch, reported Daily Mail.
"OITNB" will return in June. A new cast member, Australian Model Ruby Rose, will join the team in Season 3. She will play the love interest of the main characters, Piper Chapman (Taylor Schilling) and Alex Vause (Laura Prepon). Rose will be seen in the role of "Stella Carlin".
