Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, who presented Union Budget 2012-13 in the Parliament Friday, said his aim was to bring economy back on track. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh described it as a budget that aims at a faster and sustainable economy.
But Opposition leaders termed it an anti-aam aadmi budget. BJP leader Ananth Kumar termed the budget as "a coma budget from a coma govt."
The CPM described it as an anti-poor budget. "The roadmap given by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee makes it clear that this Budget will increase financial burden on common people," party leader Sitaram Yechury said.
Congress's ally Trinamool Congress, which is at loggerheads with the government after the Railway Budget, thinks it is a tolerable budget. However, the party said the budget could have done more for agriculture and West Bengal.
