India is proving to be a profitable battleground for mobile OEMs. The world's second largest smartphone market is no longer favourable solely towards budget phones as there's an upward trend in the premium segment as well. Following the success of OnePlus, many OEMs are bringing disruption in the premium space, which will soon be joined by the renowned Oppo Mobiles.
For days now, we've been hearing about Oppo's R17 Pro and its arrival in India. This is the first time Oppo has decided to bring its premium R-series to India - a move that could potentially hurt OnePlus and Xiaomi to an extent as well. As the anticipation for the R17 Pro grows, Oppo has started pre-booking for the device on its official website.
While Oppo R17 Pro's price is still a mystery, waiting to be revealed at the event in Mumbai on December 4, the pre-booking site confirms the device will go on sale soon after the launch. The R17 Pro will be available on Amazon India as well as Oppo retail stores and dealerships across India.
Oppo R17 Pro was launched in China in August, leaving no surprise elements for Oppo India regarding the phone's features. The biggest highlight of the R17 Pro is the impeccable SuperVOOC fast charging technology, which is better than the best fast charging techs out there.
Oppo R17 Pro's 50W SuperVOOC charger can charge the device from 0-40 percent in just 10 minutes. The handset sports two 1,850mAh batteries, which add up to be a single 3,700mAh unit. But there's more to the phone than just an impressive battery technology that is ahead of its time.
Oppo R17 Pro has a unique 3D fog gradient colour, which we are eager to see at the event. There are dual cameras at the back with 12MP f/1.5-f/2.4 dual aperture and 20MP sensors alongside a Time of Flight (TOF) 3D Sensing camera. On the front is a 25MP f/2.0 sensor for selfies, which helps the brand hold on to the title "selfie expert."
Oppo R17 Pro features a bezel-less 6.4-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with 91.5 percent screen-to-body ratio, Corning Gorilla Glass 6 and an in-display fingerprint scanner. Under the hood, there's a Snapdragon 710 chipset, Android 8.1 Oreo with ColorOS 5.2 skin, 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.
With these specifications, Oppo R17 Pro could be priced in the Rs 40,000 range, making it a fierce competitor to OnePlus 6T. Stay tuned for updates.
