OPPO added two new smartphones to its product portfolio at a special launch event in Mumbai on Friday. The two new handsets--OPPO R7 Plus and R7 Lite--are company's latest attempt at attracting the Indian shoppers with impressive specs and reasonable pricing. Both handsets are designed exquisitely with high-end features on-board.
Oppo R7 Plus is the higher-end device compared to R7 Lite. Powered by a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor clocking speeds at 1.5GHz, R7 Plus packs 3GB RAM and 32GB memory. The handset features a 6-inch Super AMOLED display with Full HD resolution and 2.5D Arc-Edge screen.
OPPO has invested deeply on the designing of R7 Plus, which uses aircraft grade magnesium-aluminum alloy uni-body and undergoes 48 polishing processes using the new anodizing technology to get the perfect finish. The handset gives a premium feel in hand with its 91 percent pure metal construction painted with fine zircon sand particles, according to DNA. The handset also features a "violin arc" design to give it an elegant look.
Interestingly, R7 Plus features a 13MP Sony IMX278 f/2.2 aperture camera sensor with laser auto-focus and stable imaging for perfect shots. The camera takes advantage of anti-shake optimisation for clearer shots and packs interesting features such as Colourful Night, New Flash Shot and LED flash.
On the front side of the device, R7 Plus packs an impressive 8MP camera with f/2.4 aperture and 80 degree angle.
On the rear side of the device, just below the camera module, R7 Plus packs a touch-type fingerprint scanner. The dual-SIM smartphone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop-based ColorOS 2.1 and packs a powerful 4100mAh battery with VOOC rapid charging solution, which delivers two hours of talk time with just five minutes of charge.
On the other hand, R7 Lite serves as an affordable variant of R7 Plus. The handset is built with good-looking metal construction, much in line with its higher end sibling. R7 Lite features a 5-inch HD Super AMOLED display, 1.3GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB expandable storage.
On the camera front, buyers will get the similar sensors as in R7 Plus. It is powered by a 2,320mAh battery and rest of the features remain same as R7 Plus sans the fingerprint scanner.
In India, OPPO R7 Plus will be available in gold and silver colours starting September 10 for Rs 29,990. R7 Lite will be priced at Rs 17,990 and will come in only gold hue starting September 25. The handsets will be on sale across all OPPO branded stores from the respective dates.
