OnePlus is hosting an event in Bengaluru, India on 12 October. Going by the recent reports, the Chinese company in all probability will unveil the rumoured smartphone OnePlus X.
To provide a better perspective on the upcoming new device, we sifted through numerous reliable sources and came up with a list of key features which are likely to make the cut in OnePlus X.
Design and display:
As per recently leaked images, OnePlus X's design language is a tad different from OnePlus 2. It features metal-finish based frame around the edge, but it has no physical home-button (with fingerprint sensor).
On the rear-side, we see vertically placed dual-cameras (with dual-LED flash) on top, reminding us of the 2014 flagship smartphone HTC One M8's camera.

Processor, RAM and Storage:
As per the leaked AnTuTu benchmark score-sheet, OnePlus X is said to house a 2.2GHz Helio X10 (MT6795T) series SoC (System on Chip).
And it is backed by 700 MHz PowerVR G6200 graphics engine, 2GB RAM and 32GB (eMMC v5.0) in-built storage.
Mobile Operating System:
OnePlus X is expected to run on the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS based Oxygen series out-of-the-box.
Camera:
Leaked images have already hinted the presence of dual cameras on the rear-side. A tipster has also informed technology blog G for Games that OnePlus X will house a 13.0-megapixel camera with Sony IMX258 sensor, f/2.0 aperture, 4K video recording and dual-tone LED flash.
For the uninitiated, the additional camera sensor on top of the main camera module of OnePlus X is used to capture detailed in-depth information of the scene enabling user to re-focus objects on the photos, which are already taken via camera application.
On the front, it is said to feature a 5MP snapper.
Battery:
OnePlus X is said to house either 3000 or 3100 mAh battery, thus guaranteeing a day full of battery life under mixed usage. It is also believed that the phone will come with Quick Charge v2.0 technology as well.
Price:
It has been learnt that the OnePlus X will cost around $250 (€222/Rs. 16,323). With this kind of price tag, the company plans to use OnePlus X to stir up another storm in the mid-range category smartphone market, just like the previous generation OnePlus One did in the top end segment.
Release details:
There is no word on when OnePlus X will be released, but if we go by previous OnePlus device launch pattern, the new phone is likely to be released via the same invite system.
The invite system requires prospective buyers to get themselves registered to the company's forum or the official Facebook/any other social network sites and participate in some contests. If lucky, users will get an invite/coupon to buy the phone.
The company started accepting requests from users for OnePlus 2 soon after the launch on 28 July and began sending invites after a few days. OnePlus 2 was made available for purchase on 11 August, 2015.
We expect the same release pattern for OnePlus X as well.
IBTimes India will be attending the OnePlus launch event in Bengaluru, India on 12 October. Stay tuned for more updates.
