OnePlus One Will Now be Available via Open Sale Forever

Chinese smartphone-maker OnePlus on Monday, 20 April, announced that the 2014 flagship handset One will now be available via open sale.

To mark the first anniversary of the OnePlus One launch on 23 April 2014, the company will now be offering the smartphone to consumers without invites.

"Starting today (20 April), the One will be available without an invite. Forever. That's right. In our first big celebration of the One's successful year, we are opening up sales globally for everyone, every day of the week," said Brandon, OnePlus Forum moderator.

"We have always wanted to put great products into the hands of more people. And, we now feel confident that we have matured enough to handle the increased complexity that comes along with opening up sales completely," he added.

Earlier, prospective consumers had to go through cumbersome route of winning contests or promotional events via signing up on Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites of OnePlus.

After some agonising wait, a few lucky consumers would get a pass (or an invite) and be eligible to book the device.

With the announcement, consumers can just directly order the phone and get it delivered right to their door-step. In India, users can log on to Amazon website to purchase the OnePlus One device.

Besides the open-sale of OnePlus One, the company has also said that buyers will get 75% on OnePlus Flip Covers and Premium Screen Protectors. Additionally, Bamboo StyleSwap covers will also be available without an invite (while supplies last).

But here's the catch. This offer is valid for only 24 hours that too in limited regions like the USA, Canada, European Union, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.

For the uninitiated, OnePlus One sports a 5.5-inch full HD (1,920x1,080p) display and ships with CyanogenMod v11S based Android KitKat v4.4 OS powered by 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 series quad-core CPU, Adreno 330 graphics engine, 3GB RAM, 16GB/64GB inbuilt memory and a high-capacity 3,100mAh battery.
