OnePlus One has already created quite a stir in the mobile industry with its flagship killer specifications and its troubles with Cyanogen. But the company is willing to move ahead in good spirit as it announces collaboration plans with SwiftKey to integrate the popular third-party keyboard app into OnePlus One smartphone via a new CyanogenMod 11S update. The new software will be shipped over-the-air this month.
OnePlus confirmed the new partnership in a blog on Wednesday. SwiftKey is a popular third party app available for download on Android and iOS powered devices. By adding SwiftKey to the phone's core software, users will have the option to switch to new typing experience on their phones. The keyboard is aimed at improving speed and accuracy as it adapts to your language through AI.
"We always look to improve user experience by working with partners who share our vision of great products and sensible innovation," Head of Product, Mobile at OnePlus, Helen Li, said in a statement. "SwiftKey improves the keyboard experience for our global user base with support for 81 languages."
SwiftKey brings variety of customisation options for the smartphone keyboard with a choice of colors, themes and more. It is ranked among the top rated apps in both Google Play and iTunes and free for download. While some users see this as a useful addition, not all OnePlus users agree. In the blog's comments, users have complained that the introduction is disturbing or rather unwanted bloatware. Here are some of the top features of SwiftKey that can help change your point of view about the inevitable addition.
Emoji Prediction
SwiftKey goes beyond predicting the next word and suggests emoji to match words, like typing burger will show a matching emoji.
Smart Auto-Correction
With SwiftKey, there is less room for errors. The intelligent auto-correction feature replaces words that are spelt wrong to save you the embarrassment.
Colourful Themes
Bored of default themes with built-in keyboards? SwiftKey offers a wide range of colourful and beautiful themes that gives a unique look to your phone.
Enhanced Word Prediction
SwiftKey uses an enhanced prediction engine that helps with complex languages, multilingual typing and improved capitalisation. In simple words, SwiftKey suggests words by reading users' minds.
Gesture Typing
Swiping your fingers across the letters on the keyboard is the new trend for swift typing. SwiftKey offers gesture typing with best recognition of words for easy and quick typing with fewer errors.
Keyboard Layouts
SwiftKey comes more than one standard layout. Users can resize, undock or even split the keyboard to suit your convenience.
The CyanogenMod 11S will be rolled out to OnePlus One users this month and the company is already in the final testing of its Lollipop build, CyanogenMod 12S.
