We saw the official release of Xiaomi's flagship smartphone Mi3 earlier this week. Now, fellow Chinese company OnePlus is slated to foray into the Indian market.
OnePlus' official blog administrator Carl Pei has hinted that the company has plans to enter Indian market, inciting excitement among many Indian fans.
"It's safe to say that we're interested in India. Being such a young company, we also know that India is a huge challenge. We're all about creating a great user experience from end to end. We understand that there are lots to learn, consider and set up before we can officially launch in this vast country," Carl Pie pointed out.
Though the new OnePlus One is not launched in the subcontinent yet, the popularity of the feature-rich smartphone is well documented among tech enthusiasts' online forums. Some Indian fans have reportedly bought (imported) OnePlus One smartphones via friends/relatives and even from scalpers from USA, stated the company.
As of now, there are no specific details available about OnePlus One release date but it is certain to come with a competitive price tag. In USA, OnePlus smartphone is retailing for just $299 (around €269/₹18,260) for 16GB Silk White and $349 (around €299/₹21,320) for 64GB Sandstone Black model.
For the uninitiated, OnePlus One made its global debut back in April. It sports a 5.5-inch full HD (1920x1080p) display and is made of magnesium material rendering the phone very light (just 162g) to hold.
Under the hood, it houses CyanogenMod custom ROM 11s (based on Android v4.4 KitKat), 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 series quad-core processor, 3GB RAM, 16GB/64GB storage, 13.0-megapixel Sony Exmor IMX214 main camera, 5.0-megapixel snapper on the front and a 3100 mAh battery.
