OnePlus has finally announced the much awaited CM12s and OxygenOS updates for their OnePlus One Android Smartphone. Dubbed as flagship killer, the OnePlus One has managed to generate substantial sales revenues around the world.
According to OnePlus officials, the OTA update of CyanogenMod 12S or CM12S will be available on or before 30th March, 2015. They have also announced the release of the OTA update of their proprietary Android ROM, OxygenOS. Based on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop the OxygenOS will be available for over-the-air update on or before 30 March.
The CM12s update will be aired for the global, non-India consumers, while the OxygenOS will primarily be released focusing primarily on Indian buyers of OnePlus One smartphone.
Asserting about keeping its promise, OnePlus has said it will be honour its committment and if it fails to do so, will give away five 64GB OnePlus One smartphones to its buyers.
"To show you how serious we are about this commitment to our community, we are prepared to put our money where our mouth is. If we miss either one of these deadlines, we will give away five (5) 64GB OnePlus One devices to our fans," the company mentioned on the OnePlus forum.
Justifying the update delay, OnePlus has mentioned some roadblocks, including unforeseen OS signing issue, camera module stability issue with Lollipop and upgrading numerous other crucial drivers including WiFi.
The CM 12s will be based on the much-hyped Android version 5.0 Lollipop. The latest CM12 ROM will probably feature the material interface of Android Lollipop and retain the theme engine, quick settings reorganization and customisation, Quick settings ribbon mode, Navigation bar reorganization and customisation, sound panel customization and lock screen quick unlock of CM 11.
According to Cyanogen, the CM12s will also feature an ambient display, aforementioned messaging app and some small tweaks, including weather option in the new Lollipop extended status bar.
To Indian OnePlus One device owners, who won't be getting CM12s update, OnePlus will offer the in-house developed Oxygen series Android Lollipop OS update.
