OnePlus launched its Cardboard VR in India through Amazon.in for Rs. 99 on Friday and successfully sold out the entire inventory. In a Twitter post on Friday, OnePlus India confirmed the news and reminded fans about the unique unveiling of the OnePlus 2 smartphone through virtual reality headset on 28 July, at 7.30 am. Those who ordered the OnePlus Cardboard VR, will have their units shipped before the launch.

We were successfully able to order the OnePlus Cardboard VR on Amazon India by paying Rs. 99 (excluding Rs. 40 for the shipping). The smartphone vendor did not confirm the number of VR headsets that were on sale on Friday, but expressed the limited availability of the Cardboard VR. Except in India, OnePlus Cardboard VR was given away for free for those who were willing to pay for the shipping. The giveaway was a part of OnePlus' plan to get as many people onboard to watch the upcoming event.

Even at Rs. 99, OnePlus managed to sell its Cardboard VR in India. This isn't surprising as alternatives to OnePlus Cardboard VR are pricey. But if you were too hung up on the VR headset, there are multiple options in the market as well as a DIY guide.

You can save some cash by ordering a DIY Google Cardboard VR for Rs. 350, while a ready-to-use headset will cost Rs. 650. There are other options on eBay as well that charge Rs. 449 for a universal VR and Rs. 499 for Google Cardboard Black edition.

OnePlus has also been keeping its fans excited about the new flagship by revealing some important specifications. On Friday, the company claimed OnePlus 2 is going to be better than next year's flagship. So far, OnePlus has revealed that the new handset will feature a slimmer metal body, 5.5-inch Full HD display, improved version of Snapdragon 810 SoC, 4G DDR4 RAM, USB Type C port, fingerprint scanner, 3,300mAh battery, faster LTE bandwidths, dual-SIM slots, 13MP primary camera with laser autofocus and 4K recording and a 5MP front snapper.

With these specs onboard, the company's CEO Pete Lau confirmed that OnePlus 2 will be priced less than $450 (Rs. 28,600 approximately).
