OnePlus made a surprise announcement this week, confirming its new collaboration with luxury sports car brand McLaren. As a result of this new partnership, fans around the world will witness the launch of a special OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition smartphone as early as next month.
OnePlus 6T [Review] McLaren Edition has already become the talk of the tinsel town, but the company has refused to spill any beans on the upcoming handset. We've already seen special handsets like OnePlus 3T x Colette 20th Anniversary Edition, OnePlus 5 x JCC + Limited Edition, OnePlus 5T Star Wars Limited Edition and most recently OnePlus 6 x Marvel Avengers Limited Edition with themed customisations to compliment certain collaborations.
If history is any indication, we'll see OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition with some thoughtful customisations that will reminisce the essence of the British automotive brand. While the special OnePlus 6T model would naturally come with McLaren-themed wallpapers and software customisations, but there's more in store for fans.
According to a report by MySmartPrice, OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition will sport 10GB RAM, making it one of the few smartphones to sport such a configuration. While the rest is expected to remain the same, as per the report, OnePlus might include some cosmetic tweaks to give customers the feel of a special edition (maybe a bright yellow colour?).
OnePlus 6T already packs 8GB RAM onboard, which by the way seems sufficient for most of the tasks. By adding extra RAM, OnePlus is only making sure the operations on the phone remain lag-free and the device is future-proof. After all, OnePlus is using the tagline "Salute to Speed" for its upcoming McLaren Edition.
OnePlus 6T McLaren Edition launch is scheduled to take place first in Woking, London, on December 11, 2018, which will be followed by another launch in Mumbai on December 12. At the India launch, OnePlus will reveal the price and availability details of the new variant while the features will be known from the phone's international debut.
OnePlus recently launched the 6T Thunder Purple, which was well-received everywhere. The matte gradient finish on the glass back of OnePlus 6T added a refreshing touch to what is already a brilliant powerhouse smartphone. It remains to be seen how the upcoming McLaren Edition will be able to top that. Stay tuned for updates.
