Last week, Xiaomi officially announced the launch of the company's subsidiary Poco and the former has wasted no time to reveal that it has partnered with Qualcomm and will be incorporating its processor in the upcoming new phone.
Poco India has also confirmed to host the launch programme to unveil new Poco F1 in New Delhi on 22 August. We believe the device will be branded differently in international regions.
In the latest message on social media platforms (Twitter and Facebook), Poco Global has confirmed that the soon-to-be-launch device is the Pocophone F1 and will have a fast CPU. "Are you ready for the true #MasterOfSpeed? #POCOPHONEF1 will take you on the craziest ride of your life. Coming to a place near you, very soon!" says the official POCOPHONE Global (@GlobalPocophone).
Whatever the device's name is, the company is most likely to incorporate Snapdragon 845 octa-core, which is Qualcomm's latest and most powerful processor to date.
Pocophone F1, being a sub-brand of Xiaomi, will be priced aggressively and go head on with the OnePlus 6. Recently OnePlus, overtook Apple and Samsung, as the numero uno premium phone (above Rs 30,000) brand in India.
OnePlus, despite being a small Chinese company, has made huge strides in the highly competitive market like India. We believe Xiaomi sees that this time is ripe to make its mark in the premium segment. Even other peers Vivo, Oppo and Huawei ( & sub-brand Honor) are eyeing the Rs 30,000 plus category and have already launched Nex S, Find X, P20 Pro and Honor 10 series, respectively, ahead of Samsung Galaxy Note9, which is slated to hit stores on 24 August.
All will be betting on their products to take on established players such as Samsung and Apple during the upcoming festival season between October and November 2018 (Dasara and Deepavali).
In a related development, new information about Poco F1 has surfaced online. According to tech blog MSP, the device will be offered in three variants—6GB RAM + 64GB storage, 6GB RAM + 128GB storage and 8GB storage + 256GB storage.
The tipsters also revealed that the 6GB RAM models will come in red, grey, blue and gradient colour options and the top-end 8GB variants will come in –grey, blue, gradient and Kevlar options.
Other expected specifications of Poco F1 (aka Pocophone F1) include 5.99-inch full HD+ screen with an iPhone X-like notch on top of the display, Android 8.1 Oreo software, 4,000mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 technology, 12MP+5MP dual primary camera, 20MP front snapper, Bluetooth 5.0, Type C USB port and other standard connectivity features.
