Name of the device
The current flagship of OnePlus is OnePlus 3T, an upgraded version of OnePlus 3. So it would seem a natural decision to name its successor as OnePlus 4, but the company has named it OnePlus 5. The smartphone maker is yet to reveal the reason behind the name but reports have claimed that "4" is believed to be an unlucky number in China, and hence the skip.
Specifications
The OnePlus 5 is expected to have several feature upgrades over its predecessor. It is expected to sport a 5.5-inch full Quad HD display with 2,560x1,440 pixels, powered by a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, run Android Nougat operating system and come packed with a 6/8GB RAM and 64GB internal memory, a 23MP main camera, a 16MP front-snapper, and a 4,000mAh battery.
Audio recording
OnePlus co-founder and CEO Carl Pei has said that the flagship has an audio recording that is superior to the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T. He said that the company "can't wait to show you the OnePlus 5 and all the areas we've improved it based on your feedback." The upcoming flagship can record high quality audio in noisy settings like concerts.
Software
The device will come running Android Nougat but it will get Google's latest operating system Android 8.0 O update. The company has confirmed that the OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T will get the firmware update. So, it is certain that the OnePlus 5 will get it.
Pricing
The Chinese smartphone manufacturer is yet to reveal the pricing of the upcoming OnePlus 5 but reports have claimed that the 6GB RAM+64 GB storage variant could be priced at Rs 32,999 in India (around $510) while the 8GB RAM+128GB ROM model would cost around Rs 34,999 (around $540).
