The price details of the much-awaited flagship smartphone OnePlus 3, which is expected to make its debut in the second quarter of 2016, have surfaced online.
Technology blog Gizmo China, citing a OnePlus employee, has claimed that the third-generation flagship phone houses Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 quad-core SoC (System-on-Chip) and will be released in two variants – one having 4GB/32GB storage and another with 6GB/64GB inbuilt memory. The price of the devices will start from ¥1999 (around $310/€268/Rs. 20,482), the source added.
This information regarding the OnePlus 3 variants is in line with a previous report. But we have our doubts over the pricing of the device as it is way lower than the cost of OnePlus 2. During its launch, the 2015 flagship phone came with a price tag of $329.
According to the current market trends, the price of electronic devices usually goes up for the latest gadgets. Even under some exceptional cases, the price of the smartphone may remain the same as the predecessor, but it is highly unlikely that the cost will come down.
So far, the company has not responded to the speculations being made about the OnePlus 3's price.
Other expected features of OnePlus 3:
Several reports have indicated that the OnePlus 3 series (both the variants) will come with a 5.5-inch screen, Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS, Adreno 530 graphics engine, a 16MP primary camera with dedicated shutter button, dual-tone LED flash and an 8MP snapper on the front.
They are also said to carry a USB Type C port, an alert slider and NFC (Near Field Communication), which was missed by fans in the predecessor.
Word on the street is that OnePlus 3 might get unveiled later this month, either on May 18 or May 28, and will go on sale in June.
