Amid strong rumours about the OnePlus 3 smartphone, details about the OnePlus 2 Mini are surfacing online. The miniature version of the current flagship has been in the news for quite some time now but the latest round of rumours puts it on top of the headlines once again.
OnePlus 2 Mini was largely related to the OnePlus X but it now appears they are two different devices. An unknown OnePlus smartphone appeared in GFXBench website, detailing several high-end specifications with a 4.6-inch screen, TechTastic reported.
As per the listing, the OnePlus 2 Mini will sport a Full HD display, 13MP rear camera, 5MP front snapper, Android 5.1 Lollipop, a Snapdragon 820 processor, 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. All the specifications are identical to the OnePlus 2, so it's safe to assume the next device in the company's lineup is OnePlus 2 Mini.
To further narrow down the similarities, it appears the OnePlus 2 Mini will skip NFC like its elder sibling.
The compact screen size combined with powerful specs make a great combination for success. With the overblown demand for phones with 5 inches and above, there is a sizable amount of requirement for phones with screen sizes lesser than 5 inches. After all, Apple has successfully mastered the formula for sub-5-inch screens with iPhone 6 and iPhone 6s smartphones.
There have also been reports in the past suggesting the OnePlus 2 Mini comes with a fingerprint scanner and a dual camera setup on the rear side of the device, as shown in the picture above by GizmoChina.
We do not have any concrete evidence on the OnePlus 2 Mini's release date but if the company's latest trend of launching two phones in one year is any indication, we might see OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 2 Mini in 2016.
