OnePlus on Monday announced that its flagship smartphone OnePlus 2 is now available $40 cheaper than its original price following a permanent price cut in the US. Customers there can purchase the OnePlus 2 64GB variant for $349 (around Rs 23,700), but the company is yet to announce a similar deal in India.
OnePlus also announced a special deal to celebrate Valentine's Day. In an official post on the company's forums, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei said buyers will get a free StyleSwap Cover or OnePlus X Case with purchase of any devices, which includes OnePlus 2, OnePlus X and OnePlus One.
"We learned a lot from our first flagship phone. The invite system helped get the OnePlus 2 off the ground, and now, thanks to both timing and scale, our operations have sized up to the Goldilocks principle of just right. So, why not let our fans join us in celebrating the fruits of our labor? The OnePlus 2 now has a price modification of $349, forever (sic)," Pei wrote on the company's official forums.
Of the entire OnePlus smartphone range, OnePlus 2 is the most powerful smartphone. We reviewed the handset in August last year following its release in July 2015, and found it to be an overall charmer. It offers great battery, camera and performance, and also has the looks to impress.
For the price, customers get a 5.5-inch Full-HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 chipset, 64GB storage, 4GB RAM, a 13-megapixel primary camera with dual LED flash, laser AF, OIS and a 5MP front-snapper. OnePlus 2 packs a 3,300mAh battery, USB Type-C port and has dual 4G nano-SIM card support.
Most importantly, the Chinese smartphone-maker has ditched the invite-only sales model for all of its phones. Combine that with the new price cut, and OnePlus 2 comes in a great package if you are planning to upgrade to a new handset.
