Actor and politician Vinod Khanna passed away on Thursday in Mumbai, leaving one of his last wishes unfulfilled.
The death of Vinod Khanna saddened the whole industry. However, another sad thing is that the actor could not fulfil a wish, which is connected to Pakistan. Vinod had an ancestral house at Peshawar in Pakistan that the actor wanted to visit once before his demise.
"Khanna extended his good wishes to people of Peshawar and expressed a desire to visit his ancestral city. Khanna wanted to visit Peshawar to see the area where his parents and forefathers lived. He had sent a request for his visit to Pakistan, but could not succeed," Mid-Day quoted Shakeel Waheedullah, General Secretary Cultural Heritage Council Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as saying.
Vinod Khanna was born to a Punjabi family in Peshawar, and had moved to Mumbai after partition. The Pakistani cultural officer further said that an event will be organised soon to honour the departed soul.
Vinod Khanna was reportedly suffering from bladder cancer. He was admitted to hospital due to severe dehydration, and then a photo had gone viral.
The photo had given rise to rumours suggesting that Vinod Khanna had died, but it turned to be just a hoax. The actor actually passed away on April 27.
