The viewers of "Once Upon a Time" will be surprised to meet Emma Swan's (Jennifer Morrison) guide to darkness in the premiere episode of season 5. They may find it hard to believe that it is none other than the dark one, Rumplestiltskin.
But the first-look photo of the upcoming sequel released by Entertainment Weekly shows Robert Carlyle's evil character approaching "The Dark Swan" and lending a helping hand to control her new powers.
"If you're going to be the Dark One, gotta learn from the best," teased executive producers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz.
During the San Diego Comic Con 2015, Carlyle revealed that Mr. Gold's fairytale counterpart still makes devilish deals. "Rumple's not in a coma. Gold's in a coma. Gold's got a white heart, Rumple doesn't. It's a different thing," the website quoted him as saying.
However, followers of the fairytale series need not be varied about the consequence as Horowitz informed that Emma will be different from Carlyle's character, according to Deadline.
"Once Upon a Time" creators are also planning to introduce the show's first ever Pixar character, Merida, to the viewers in the premiere episode of season 5. The character will be played by Scottish actress Amy Manson and she will reportedly have a major role to play in Emma's life.
While Kitsis said, "We will meet her in the premiere, and how we meet her I don't want to spoil." Horowitz revealed, "In the season premiere, there's a lot that happens, including Merida and giving you a taste of what we plan to do with Camelot. It's certainly a part of Emma's journey as the Dark Swan and dealing with her darkness."
So it can be assumed that the Manson's character might help Evil Queen Regina Mills (Lana Parrilla), Captain Hook (Colin O'Donoghue), Henry Daniel Mills (Jared S Gilmore), Prince Charming aka David Nolan (Josh Dallas) and Snow White aka Mary Margaret Blanchard (Ginnifer Goodwin) to find Merlin aka Sorcerer (Elliot Knight).
However, "Once Upon a Time" fans will have to wait until 27 September to know more about the storyline of season 5, which will mainly focus on Emma Swan's journey to the world of darkness.
