Brace yourself because a new Deadpool movie is here. Well, not actually a new Deadpool movie, but a re-cut of the Deadpool 2 titled, Once Upon a Deadpool, is all set to release and with few additional scenes, it is looking like one of the best Christmas movies of 2018.
Ryan Reynolds's Once Upon a Deadpool's first teaser is currently trending on all social media platforms and it can easily be viewed as Ryan's attempt to prove to the world that a Deadpool movie is possible without any slangs and nudity.
Back in September, Fox announced that it would release a Deadpool movie in theatres around Christmas. It was later cleared that the upcoming movie will be a re-cut version of Deadpool 2 and it would be a PG-13 rating rather than being R-rated.
The idea of turning Deadpool 2 into a PG-13 movie was first raised by Ryan Reynolds himself during a general discussion about the character following the film's initial release, and it was Reynolds, who suggested the framing device for the story.
The upcoming Deadpool 2 movie is going to be that version of the film in which Deadpool would be telling the story of the film to Fred Savage, parodying The Princess Bride.
As per movie writer Paul Wernick, Once Upon a Deadpool would not just be for children who were unable to watch the R-rate release, as "it's subversive enough and fun and creative and something that only Deadpool could do. So I think it's going to be a real joy for not only a whole new audience, but also an audience that has seen and loved the Deadpool movies."
Furthermore, while speaking with Deadline, Ryan Reynolds added that the intention was always to make a version of Deadpool that would be PG-13.
"Fox has been asking for a PG-13 basically since the start in 2006. I've said no since 2006. Now, this one time, I said 'Yes' on two conditions. First, a portion of the proceeds had to go to charity. Second, I wanted to kidnap Fred Savage. The second condition took some explaining."
As per reports, 20th Century Fox will donate $1 from each ticket sold to Fudge Cancer.
Starring Ryan Reynolds in his fan-favourite avatar of Deadpool, Once Upon a Deadpool is scheduled to release on December 12, 2018.
