Kerala's own festival Onam is considered an auspicious time, and like every year, some of the most-anticipated Mollywood films are expected to hit screens during the festive season, which falls in September this year.
Oppam
Mohanlal and Priyadarshan's reunion movie "Oppam," in which the superstar plays a blind man, is one of the much-awaited films of the year. This is the first time in his decades-long acting career that Mohanlal will be seen playing a blind man throughout a film. The upcoming crime thriller, which narrates a murder that is being "witnessed" by a blind lift-operator, is expected to be the comeback movie of Priyadarshan. The makers had announced it as an Onam release while releasing the first-look poster of the thriller. Produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Films, "Oppam" also has Vimala Raman, Sanchita Shetty and Mamukkoya in pivotal roles.
Welcome to Central Jail
Dileep's "Welcome to Central Jail," which went on floors in April, is expected to be an Onam release. The movie, helmed by Sunderdas, narrates incidents in the life of some prisoners‬. The film marks the reunion of Dileep and Vedhika after the 2013 Malayalam movie "Sringaravelan." It has Renji Panicker, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Kailash and Thesni Khan in significant roles.
Oozham
Upcoming revenge thriller "Oozham" which carries the tagline: "It's just a matter of time," is the second association of hitmaker Jeethu Joseph and young superstar Prithviraj Sukumaran after their 2013 film "Memories." The film, which has Divya Pillai, Rasna Pavithran, Neeraj Madhav, Balachandra Menon and Kishore Sathya in pivotal roles, is also expected to hit theatres for Onam.
Kochavva Paulo Ayyappa Coelho
Kunchacko Boban's "Kochavva Paulo Ayyappa Coelho," which is the comeback movie of the production house Udaya Studios, is said to be locking horns with biggies as it is also expected to be an Onam release. The Sidhartha Siva-directed movie marks the acting debut of actor Sudheesh's son Rudraksh.
Oru Muthassi Gadha
