OmniROM, a new custom ROM for Android OS, has been reportedly made official at Big Android BBQ event which happened in Texas at the weekend.
The ROM has been said to be made official by several developers, which include some known names such as Chainfire, Xplodwild and Dees_Troy.
OmniROM will be available in a number of devices including:
-Google Nexus 4
-Google Nexus 7 (2012 and 2013) (both Wi-Fi and Cellular versions)
-Google Nexus 10
-Oppo Find 5
-Sony Xperia Z smartphone
-Sony Xperia Z tablet, according to Android Authority.
Meanwhile, some of the features of the custom Android ROM have been also revealed. They are:
-Flippable Quick Settings
-Roadrunner mode
-Multi-window (Enables the user to run more than one application on the screen at once)
-Daydream enhancements
-Integrated Performance Control
-Multi-workspace
-Color-changeable
-3D depth Phase Beam
OmniROM has been given a sub forum on Xda-Developers, which is not available for other ROMs. It has also been understood that the developers will also be working on a new open source ROM installer tipped as OmniInstaller. It will enable the users to easily install not only OmniROM but other custom ROMs (such as Paranoid Android and AOKP) in their Android device in a quick way, reports Liliputing.
The release date of ROM for the users has not been disclosed as of yet.
The developers have also promised the users to create an app which makes CyanogenMod, a renowned ROM, easy to install. The developers have partnered with Oppo to offer the firm's flagship phone with pre-installed CyanogenMod and are expected to partner with other firms in future.
