A few unidentified men shot an Ola cab driver in Delhi's Kotla Mubarakpur area on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday, police said. The incident happened after the Ola cab driver's car apparently nibbled a Honda City car which belonged to the accused.
The Ola cab driver identified as Umesh ended up in a heated argument with the four occupants of the Honda City during which one of the four men allegedly shot Umesh in the abdomen. The shooter also fired a shot in the air before fleeing from the spot.
Locals rushed the 40-year-old Ola driver to a hospital where he was declared brought dead. Police said that they were scanning CCTV footage of the spot to identify and arrest the accused.
Cases of crime against cab drivers have witnessed a sharp rise over the past few months especially in areas around Delhi NCR region. Recently, the UP Police had arrested five members of a gang for strangulating an Ola driver to death and later fleeing the spot with his cab.
