Maruti Suzuki started accepting bookings for the 2018 version of the Ciaz sedan on Friday (August 10). India's largest carmaker will sell the new Ciaz via Nexa showrooms and the launch is expected in the second half of August.
The prospective buyers can book the new Ciaz at the 319 Nexa showrooms spread across the country for a down payment of Rs 11,000. The customers can also book the Ciaz via Nexa website. Though bookings have officially started now, some Nexa dealers had started taking orders last month.
Maruti Suzuki has confirmed that the new Ciaz will boast of LED Projector headlamp with DRL, new LED rear combination lamp and newly designed alloy wheels. The cabin will get a new premium dashboard and host of convenience features. The new upholstery for the seats and door pads and faux wood trim on the dashboard are also expected in the latest Ciaz.
The 2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz will draw power from a 1.5-litre petrol engine replacing the 1.4-litre unit. The mill had made its debut with the 2018 Suzuki Ertiga at the Indonesia International Motor Show in April.
The mill is expected to come with Suzuki's SHVS mild-hybrid system. Leaked information suggests that the new combination will return an impressive ARAI-tested fuel economy of 21.56kmpl for the manual version and 20.28kmpl for the automatic. To put it into perspective, the outgoing Ciaz petrol's had a rated fuel efficiency of 20.73kmpl for the manual and 19.12kmpl for the automatic.
The diesel engine will be the tried and tested 1,248cc unit. The DDis unit is already equipped with the mild-hybrid system producing 89bhp at 4,000rpm and 200Nm of torque at 1,750rpm. Maruti Suzuki may also add a new 1.5-litre diesel engine for the new Ciaz range on a later stage.
