The movie based on MT Vasudevan Nair's novel Randamoozham has been making headlines ever since superstar Mohanlal announced the project (Mahabarata). The Rs. 1,000 crore project, to be helmed by director VA Shrikumar, will go on floors only in September 2018.

However, in an earlier interview, Shrikumar had confirmed that before Mahabharata, he will direct Mohanlal in another movie, titled Odiyan. Stunt choreographer Peter Hein, who made a grand debut in Malayalam with Mohanlal's blockbuster action thriller Pulimurugan, has also been roped in for the upcoming movie.
After meeting Peter and Mohanlal, the filmmaker posted on his Facebook account:
Had a wonderful discussion with Peter Hein and Lalettan Mohanlal on the action sequence of Odiyan. Wait for Lalettan's spectacle!
Can 56-year-old superstar Mohanlal recreate Pulimurugan's magic?
Odiyans are a clique who wore animal costumes. They faded into oblivion in the 90s and the superstar plays the last Odiyan in the movie packed with magical realism elements. The movie will start rolling in July and go on till September. Scripted by Harikrishnan, Odiyan is bankrolled by Antony Perumbavoor. Manju Warrier will play the female lead.
