Odisha's Special Operation Group (SOG) has killed three Maoists, including two women, in the state's Malkangiri district in an ongoing encounter on Friday.
The encounter is happening along the Malkangiri–Chhattisgarh border. Two SLR rifles and an Insas rifle have been recovered from the deceased.
Based on a tip-off about a Maoist meeting in the forested area near Tandiki village on the border with Chhattisgarh, a team of state police and district volunteer force (DVF) led by Malkangiri SP Mitrabhanu Mohapatra launched an attack on the Maoists, killing three of them, the Odisha Sun Times reports.
The security forces will carry out a search operation in the area after the encounter is over, the Odisha Sun Times said in its report filed about two hours ago.
Malkangiri is one of the Maoist-affected regions of the state.
