NTR Kathanayakudu pre-release business: Krish film beats record of Balayya's GPS theatrical rights

Director Krish and Balakrishna's NTR Kathanayakudu has garnered an amazing response in its pre-release business and gone on to beat the theatrical rights record of the duo's Gautamiputra Satakarni (GPS).

Nandamuri Balakrishna and Krish first teamed for 2017 period movie Gautamiputra Satakarni, which has not only become a blockbuster at the box office but also remained a landmark film in their careers. This combo is coming back together again and the success of their previous film has generated a lot of hype for their latest venture.

Another interesting fact about their latest film NTR Kathanayakudu is that it is a biographical movie based on the life of late legendary actor and former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh – NTR aka NT Rama Rao. This has doubled the hype, curiosity and expectations about their second film, which is slated to hit the screens on January 9 as a Sankranti treat.

The hype surrounding it has generated huge demand for its theatrical rights and several leading distribution houses were in a race to buy its rights. With a day left for its release, we hear that the makers have already sold outs its rights for all the areas across the globe. NTR Kathanayakudu has received huge prices from all the regions.

According to the reports, NTR Kathanayakudu has fetched Rs 54.10 crore from its theatrical rights for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana (AP/TS), Rs 5.90 crore from other parts of India and Rs 10.0 crore from its overseas distribution rights. The movie has earned a total of Rs 70 crore for its producers from the sale of its global rights.

Gautamiputra Satakarni earned Rs 46.80 crore from its worldwide theatrical rights. It was the highest price for any Balakrishna starrer, as his later release Jai Simha (Rs 38.50 crore) and Paisa Vasool (Rs 32.50 crore) could not beat this record. Now, NTR Kathanayakudu has smashed the record and set a new record for both Balayya and Krish.
