The images of Ignis, Maruti Suzuki's premium crossover, draped in new colour shade not seen in India have been doing the rounds on the internet. This has drawn the attention of many, leaving the auto world in wonder whether there is a golden colour in the colour palette of the model in India.
The Ignis in golden colour was snapped nestled at one of the company's premier Nexa showrooms. While Ignis looks just the same as the model sold in the market, there seems to be additional features such as roof rails, suggesting that it could either be an export variant or an accessorised version of the model.
Ignis sold in the country does not come fitted with roof rails and the colour options include nine shades - Glistening Grey, Pearl Arctic White, Silky Silver, Tinsel Blue, Tinsel Blue/Midnight Black, Tinsel Blue/Pearl Arctic White, Uptown Red, Uptown Red/Midnight Black and Urban Blue.
Should Maruti Suzuki introduce the golden option in the colour scheme for India, it would be a masterstroke. Consumers in India have always shown an inclination to any product that sways towards golden hues.
Ignis, Maruti Suzuki's first compact crossover, is sold through Nexa in India. The bookings for Ignis are said to be rising and the waiting period for the car has been pushed to over five months. Positioned below Baleno, Ignis is priced between Rs. 4.59 lakh and Rs. 7.46 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
It comes with two engine options — 1.2L VVT petrol and 1.3L DDiS 190 diesel engine. The petrol as well as the diesel trims come with Auto Gear Shift (AGS) technology. While the petrol mill in Ignis is tuned to churn out 82bhp of power at 6000rpm with a torque of 113Nm at 4200rpm, the diesel mill generates 74bhp of power at 4000 rpm along with a torque of 190Nm at 2000 rpm.
