In a new initiative by Paytm that supports offline cashless transactions, a toll-free number is now in place to let you make payments without being online. With this mechanism, feature-phone users as well as those preferring not use the internet from their smartphones can use Paytm to indulge in cashless transactions.
The new toll free number is 1800 1800 1234. You can dial this number and make payments even if you are a feature phone user and fretting about not getting to use digital banking that generally requires a stable web connection. This custom toll-free number also lets you use your Paytm account even if you do not have access to internet.
How to use Paytm for offline payments with the new toll-free number?
Firstly, both Paytm users as well as merchants should set the four-digit Paytm PIN on call. Then, you can enter the mobile phone number of your intended recipient and key in the amount required to be transferred.
After the above step, finally enter the recipient's Paytm PIN after which money gets transferred to the recipients' Paytm wallet.
Do remember that before transferring money offline, you should possess an active Paytm account. You can check out the service's official website or the official Android/iOS application to create your Paytm account.
To top-up your Paytm account with money, you can log-in to your account online, or visit an offline cash point. You can find out your nearest Paytm cash point by clicking here.
The initiative by Paytm is interesting considering the fact that a majority of people have accepted the demonetisation of old Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes, and are in agreement with PM Narendra Modi's cashless steps towards fulfilling the Digital India vision.
