What to expect from the quarter-final tie
Fresh from completing a Career Golden Masters in Cincinnati last month, Djokovic has been in good form at the Flushing Meadows.
The Serb had conceded a set to his opponents in the first two rounds but has looked solid ever since he thrashed Richard Gasquet 6-2, 6-3, 6-3.
The reigning Wimbledon champion is heading into the quarter-final after eased past lower-ranked Joao Sousa in straight sets.
Djokovic was on course for a quarter-final meeting with Roger Federer but it was not to be as the Swiss great suffered a shock defeat to Millman in the fourth round on September 3.
Millman, ranked 55th on the ATP charts, benefitted from an error-prone display from Federer. The 20-time Grand Slam champion committed 76 unforced errors, including 10 double faults on a humid day in New York.
The 29-year-old seems to be heading into the big last-eight tie with a lot of confidence.
"Yeah, why not? Again, I'll have to improve a lot on the last time I played him. He's an incredible player. I think he's in some really good form right now, too. Yeah, but why not? I think it's a disservice to who I am if I go out there and don't have that belief," Millman said when asked about his chances against Djokovic on Wednesday, September 5.
Millman has no real weaknesses in his game and showcased he is fit enough to battle the humidity in New York while taking down Federer.
Nonetheless, he faces an uphill task against Djokovic, who has one of the best all-round games in the sport.
Having avoided a clash against Federer and Nadal (until the final), the 13-time Grand Slam champion will be keen to outclass Millman and give himself an opportunity to go the distance in New York this year.
