In a shocking incident, J&K's noted writer, artist and former Secretary of J&K Cultural Academy, Rita Jitendra died during a live interactive programme which was telecast early morning on Monday, September 10.
A video of Rita speaking to the TV anchors of DD Kashmir during the live programme, Good Morning J&K, has gone viral during which the writer suddenly stops talking and is gasping for breath.The anchors did not immediately realise that Rita had suffered from sudden cardiac arrest and called for cutting the live transmission. However, one of the anchors shifted the focus of the show and carried on with his duty.
Reportedly, this is for the first time in the history of Doordarshan, Srinagar centre, that someone has died during a live programme.
Rita was later rushed to the SMHS hospital, Srinagar where she was declared brought dead.
The doctors are yet to ascertain the cause of the sudden heart attack which led to Rita's death.
