Sanjay Leela Bhansali's next, "Padmavati," will be an intense period film. Up until now, it was being reported that Deepika Padukone will play the titular role, but Priyanka Chopra is also one of the strong contenders for the part.
Although it would be wise to wait for an official announcement, SpotboyE reported one cannot ignore that Priyanka is also in the running for the role. She did a cameo in "Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela" and played Kashibai in "Bajirao Mastani."
The film is scheduled to open in theatres on Dec. 15, 2017 and could star Ranveer Singh in a positive role and Shah Rukh Khan as stern ruler Alauddin Khilji. However, these are mere speculations.
"He is set to tell the tale of the greatest Sultan of Hindustan and his obsessive love for the legendary queen, Padmavati, who was known for her beauty, intellect and courage. It has been tentatively titled 'Padmavati'. He had earlier directed an opera based on the same subject, which was highly appreciated in Paris and Rome," a source told Mid-Day.
Meanwhile, Priyanka has almost wrapped up her work commitments out West and ready to begin work on her next Hindi film. During her brief visit to India last month, the leading lady told Catch News that she has been dying to do a Bollywood song adding that the time is right to take up a Bollywood project.
"I have taken up Baywatch this year and the shooting of the film is in its last schedule. So, I am yet to decide on a Bollywood film that I'll lock within this week as I would have to start shooting for this Bollywood film in May itself. This is it for this year -- Quantico, Baywatch, and a Bollywood film," she told the web portal.
