Akshay Kumar was scheduled to begin "Namastey England" this July, but it is said to have been postponed as the star has given a chunk of his dates to A R Murugadoss' "Ikka." This is the second time that the Vipul Shah directorial has failed to take off on time.
"Akshay has already given his dates for Ikka, so it is unlikely that 'Namastey England' will go on floors as per schedule This June, Akshay will take off on his annual month-long family vacation. So, 'Ikka' will take time to be completed. That may delay Vipul's project eventually," a source told Mid-Day.
However, Vipul rubbished the buzz saying his film will begin as scheduled and added he wasn't aware of the delay.
"Ikka" is the Hindi remake of 2014's Tamil action-drama "Kaththi," which was also directed by Murugadoss. The Hindi film will be different from the original and will see Akshay essay a double role.
"Murugadoss is presently re-scripting the film to fit a more North Indian set-up but Akshay will be seen in a double role," a source in the know told the the Mumbai Mirror.
Meanwhile, Akshay is working towards wrapping up the New Delhi schedule of "Robot 2." Superstar Rajinikanth joined the actor Wednesday.
In the sci-fi actioner, Akshay plays the role of mad scientist, Dr. Richard, who turns himself into a crow following a lab experiment. In a feathered jacket and extended eyebrows, the star looked devilish in the leaked first-look photo.
He also has schedules of Tinu Desai's "Rustom" to finish. Loosely based on the infamous Nanavati case of 1959, the story is a thriller set in 1950s. An on-set photo showed Akshay slaying the vintage charm.
