While North Korea's internet was down for up to ten hours, netizens all over the world took to social media sites to discuss the suspicious outage in the midst of the US-North Korea stand-off over the Sony hack.
While several speculations and theories about the cause of the Internet outage floated on the Internet, many Twitterati also shared memes over the episode.
Several Twitterati wondered if the hacktivist group Anonymous took down North Korea's Internet, given that they had launched 'Operation RIP North Korea' and also vowed to leak the controversial film 'The Interview' from their now suspended Twitter account, using the hashtag #OpRIPNK.
A Twitter account with the @OpRIPNK tweeted: "It seems Kim Jong un and Guardians of Peace are having Internet problems today".
Some of the memes depicted charters wearing the trademark Anonymous mask spanking and beating other characters superimposed with the face of Kim Jong-un, the leader of the communist regime.
Here are some of the interesting trolls and comments from the social media on North Korea's Internet crash.
