Like the other films released in the recent past, Sonakshi Sinha-starrer Noor has also started on a slow note at the domestic box office. The film, which focuses on journalist Noor's life, had a dismissal start with less than Rs 2 crore on its opening day.
Noor carried a good hype and buzz, but unfortunately, it failed to translate into good numbers at the box office. The film earned around Rs 1.54 crore on its opening day at the domestic box office.

"#Noor has a dull start... Fri ₹ 1.54 cr [1450 screens]. India biz... Needs a major jump over the weekend to leave a mark," trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted.
The film needs a big push at the box office to survive at the ticket window, but the mixed audience response and critics review hint that it will be difficult for the film to show a big growth in its numbers over the weekend. Also, the film is facing competition from Raveena Tandon's Maatr at the box office.
Meanwhile, the first-day collection of Noor is not even close to the other films that had actresses in key roles. The first-day collection of Noor is less than the collections of Vidya Balan's Begum Jaan (Rs 3.94 crore), Taapsee Pannu's Naam Shabana (Rs 5.12 crore) and Anushka Sharma's Phillauri (Rs 4.02 crore).
Directed by Sunhil Sippy, the film features Sonakshi in the lead role and Kanan Gill, Manish Choudhary, Purab Kohli and Shibani Dandekar in pivotal roles. The film, released on Friday, April 21, had received mixed response from critics.
