Nokia's much-awaited budget smartphone - Asha 501 - has finally put up for pre-order on the company's official website with a price-tag of ₹5,199.
Finnish handset maker had unveiled the budget touch-screen phone Asha 501 in New Delhi on 9 May, 2013. As promised the device is all set to go on sale this month in India.
Online shopping portal, Flipkart has also placed the affordable Asha phone up for pre-order, whereas Infibeam has listed the device as 'Coming Soon!'.
Nokia Asha 501 sports a QVGA (320x240p) two-point capacitive touch screen having a pixel density of 133 ppi (pixels per inch). It runs on the new Asha software platform v1.0 and houses 64 MB RAM and a microSD slot which enables users to expand memory space up to 32GB.
Striking feature of the Nokia phone is that it comes with high durable battery life which gives a power back up for 17 hours of talk time (2G) though it houses 1200 mAh BL-4U model battery.
Considering the specifications and its price point, the Nokia's dual-SIM Asha 501 will be competing against Samsung's budget Rex series smartphones as well as Micromax Smarty 4.3, Karbonn A6, and it might even cannibalize sales of its own older sibling - Asha 311 - which falls under the same price bracket.
