Last week, HMD Global Oy's Nokia Mobile India Twitter handle released a teaser. Without revealing the actual date, it hinted at the impending launch of a new phone in the sub-continent. Now, the company has announced the D-Day.
Nokia India has been sending out the press invites to media outlets for a product event on December 6. It can be noted that the company is hosting a similar event in Dubai on December 5. It is widely reported that HMD Global will unveil the Nokia 8.1, which is said to be the global variant of the Nokia X7. The latter is already available in China and will now soon make its way to international markets including India with a different moniker.
Also, the Nokia 8.1 will be an Android One series, meaning it will run pure Android software (probably Oreo v8.1). Also, it is guaranteed to get a minimum of two years of software upgrade support and an additional year of Google security patch.
Rest of the features such as the Nokia 8.1's design and internal hardware specification will remain the same as the Chinese Nokia X7 variant.
Nokia 8.1 will sport a 6.18-inch full HD+ LCD screen and come with 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 octa-core processor, 4GB/6GB RAM, 64GB/128GB storage and a 3,500mAh battery, which is more than enough to keep the phone running for more than a day easily under mixed usage.
It also comes with a feature-rich dual-camera module having 12MP and 13MP sensors on the back, and a feature-rich 20MP front snapper for the selfies and video chatting.
Other stipulated features include Bluetooth 5.0, Type C USB port, FM Radio, 4G VoLTE support and more.
