HMD Global Oy has really done a magic spell on the Nokia brand as it continues to become one of the most sought-after phone brands in the world. Nokia X6's launch in India has been a mystery even as fans eagerly wait for the budget premium smartphone. While the global launch of Nokia X6 is scheduled for July 24 in Hong Kong, Honor is making the most of the demand by launching an apt rival.
Honor 9N has been confirmed by Huawei's online-only sub-brand to be launched at an event in New Delhi on July 24. The online-exclusive brand focuses on delivering smartphones with rich features without burning the pockets of consumers and Honor 9N is going to continue the legacy.
Honor revealed on Wednesday that the upcoming Honor 9N is "one of most affordable notch phones in the price segment." Without giving any hints on the price range, Flipkart Mobile senior director, Ayyappan Rajagopal said that the Honor 9N will be a "game changer in terms of the extraordinary design that it offers in the price segment."
Ahead of the major reveal on Tuesday, Honor has confirmed that the Honor 9N will be exclusively available on Flipkart.
"We are delighted to announce that Flipkart will be our exclusive online sale partner for Honor 9N, our new smartphone. Accessibility to consumer is one of the most important aspect that we consider while launching a new product and this strategic partnership with Flipkart assures us of that," P Sanjeev, VP of sales at Huawei India-Consumer Business Group, said in a statement.
But that's not it. Honor also gave subtle hints that outline the extraordinary design of the Honor 9N. While we reserve our final verdict about the phone's design until we get our hands on it, the company noted that Honor 9N will sport a unique "Notch FullView display for larger screen real estate.
Honor also revealed that the Honor 9N's display will have a 2.5D curved glass, which is inspired by water droplet design, with 12 layers of premium glass and a nano coating finish for a mirror-like effect. It is safe to say that the Honor 9N will be a shiny handset, much like one of the existing phones Honor 10.
Honor has also teased the Honor 9N through its social media channels in order to build the necessary hype ahead of the launch. The hashtag #NOORDINARYBEAUTY associated with Honor 9N suggests the handset will be focused on the cameras, such as dual cameras at the back with a large sensor, LED flash and a bunch of AI features.
Some reports also suggested that the Honor 9N is going to be a rebranded version of Honor 9i (2018) for the Indian market. If true, the Honor 9N will be priced competitively and it could give a tough fight to Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro and others in the same price range. The Honor 9i (2018) retails at ¥1,399 (roughly Rs 14,400) for the 64GB variant and ¥1,699 (around Rs 17,500) for the 128GB model.
At this price range, Honor 9N will also be competing against the lauded Nokia X6, which is yet to make its debut in India.
