Tech enthusiasts anticipating the release of Nokia's latest PureView 808 in India will have to wait a little longer than they think, with the mobile titan likely to kick start its sales on June 15.
According to Shariq Khan, Assistant Service Manger of Nokia Concept Inc., the Finnish smartphone manufacturer is rolling out a demo of the device on Wednesday, and will go on sales two days later.
The smartphone will sell be sold at an initial launch price of INR 34,500 instead of INR 33,899 as reported by various sections of the media.
Some online retail stores, such as BuyThePrice have started accepted preorders for the device and have listed its price at INR 32,000 on its websites. The PureView 808 was initially set to launch in India on June 6 with the company rolling out a countdown on the smartphone's release. However, the launch didn't materialize after that.
First unveiled at the Mobile World Congress held earlier this year, this snappy Symbian-powered device raked in an overwhelming amount of attention particularly due to its massive 41 megapixel sensor that promises extraordinary clarity through its 4X lossless zoom feature. Coupled with a Carl Zeiss optics lens, the PureView 808's camera captures full HD 1080p video at 30 frames per second and also comes with new pixel oversampling technology for processing highest quality images.
Powered by a 1.3 GHz ARM 11 processor, the PureView 808 features a 4-inch 360 x 640 pixel resolution screen and its memory specifications include 512 MB RAM plus 16GB of in-built storage that's expandable up to 32 GB or 48 GB through an SD card slot. Amongst the great features is the Dolby Headphones which give stereophonic sound playback. Other specifications include Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi, HSDPA 14.4Mbps, HSUPA 5.76Mbps, GPS and A-GPS, stereo FM radio, and NFC connectivity.
